elise michaux aka “the encourager” is a keynote speaker, educator, workshop facilitator, and consultant whose work focuses on race & organizational culture. She has earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Learning and Leadership from Gannon University, M.A. in Student Affairs in Higher Education and B.A. in English Literature from Slippery Rock University.
You might notice that elise lowercases her name. During undergrad, elise was encouraged by a mentor to read queer activist and feminist bell hooks’ “Ain’t I A Woman” and it changed her life. As a nod to her and its profound impact, she too lowercases her name.
elise often presents workshops, lectures and presentations on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Her research, publications and presentations focuses on inclusive leadership practices and policies. She is also committed to serving communities in which she occupies by participating on local and state boards.
Outside of her professional duties, elise enjoys attending concerts, exploring new coffee shops and breweries as well as the art of photography.
